Understand the similarities and differences in the skills and career paths of technical and non-technical sales.
Details
All companies need sales to drive revenue. The product and service offerings can be broadly categorised into technical and non-technical sales.
The sales organisational structure may differ from companies but there are similar areas that may enable Sales Professionals to move across from technical to non-technical sectors and vice versa.
The transition across sectors based mainly in harnessing the correct skill sets and building of the relevant track records that will provide a broader and more flexible career spectrum.
Workshop Learning Outcome where Participants will learn the following:
1. Definition of Technical and Non-technical Sales
Learn the generic definition of both terms
2. Sales Structure of a Typical Organisation
Be aware of how a typical sales department is made up of and the roles and responsibilities
3. Skill Sets Required for Technical and Non-technical Sales
Understand the broad scope of the required skills to perform the roles satisfactorily.
4.Sales Career Transition Possibilities
Identify the essential skills, scan the options and keep an open mind of possible transitions to obtain relevant experience and skills for credible track record for transition.
5.Positioning For the Next Career Progression
Set skills and outcome objectives to strategically position for the next career move either in or across industries or vertically in work responsibilities or authority.

Ms Christina Tan has toggled several times between technical to non-technical sales over her course of 25 years in her business development career
About the Mentor:
Christina Tan has more than 25 years of direct sales and management experience. Her career spans across key roles as Sales and Business Development Director, Product Manager and Consultant in world class multi-national companies, local multi-nationals, SMEs and government trade agencies. She has served hundreds of clients including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and local enterprises across key industries such as education, healthcare, telecommunication and manufacturing. She helped win multi-million contracts, competing against world class players and building up greenfield markets from scratch to success.
