Summary
urrently studying Materials Engineering.
I believe in creating value, in working towards a better tomorrow, both for the people around me, and myself. This is exactly why I prefer going for the Engineering or the Biomedical field. In those fields, I get to challenge myself in thinking, thinking of how to make lives better, systems more efficient, and this promotes growth in both myself, by satisfying my thirst for knowledge, and the betterment for others. For example, in the Biomedical field, though I have not reached that level of research as an undergraduate, I am willing, whether through research (when I reach that level) or the fabrication process or otherwise, to learn, to strive, and more importantly, to serve. For instance, those who are in need of implants or a less gruelling medical experience - someone has to discover these implants, someone has to make them, someone has to conduct the implant operation. Whichever it is, I am willing, for the betterment of others. Another example will be the Semiconductor Industry. Semiconductor, very widely used today, though may have a rather isolated fabrication process in the lab, but that matters little, as the uses go far beyond the lab. This has made lives much more convenient, through bank cards, electronic devices, and more! This is creating value, this is what I believe in. Moreover, knowing this industry is filled with challenges, I can, through overcoming these challenges, become a better version of myself, this is killing two birds in one stone - a better tomorrow for those around me, a better tomorrow for myself. This leads to my second point: I think of how to help, and not to rebut or blame.
When situations get unfriendly, when people may not work together as well, I believe that instead of blaming others, why are they not doing their job? Why are they doing things in a strange way? I believe that I should try to understand others, and not judge them. I had working experiences, and I had seen that unfortunately, some people, even in the Social Service sector do not have this mindset, but rather are judging others, and shouting when things do not go their way. That is totally contrary to my belief. When things go wrong, why? What can be done better? Can processes and quality testing be more thorough? How so? When a teammate is under-performing, why? What is the root issue? How can I help this teammate? This is my mindset, this is what I believe should be, once again, for a better tomorrow for everyone around me, for myself.

Clarence Siak's Skill Profile
Bachelor Of Engineering (Materials Engineering) @ Nanyang Technological University
When I was working at Nanyang Technological University (Aug 2020 - Present), I demonstrated the Teaching skill when I was responsible for an incoming foreign student who is on the 1st year. To take initiative, I proactively brought him around, took care of him during his quarantine (over Zoom), and brought him out after his quarantine. As a result, I managed to positively affect his entry into NTU and allowed a smooth assimilation into NTU.
Executive @ Social Health Growth Ltd
When I was working at Social Health Growth Ltd (Mar 2020 - Jun 2020), I demonstrated the Planning skill when I was tasked to do planning of activities for a children exposure programme. To tackle this challenge, I proactively research on and think of places and activities that encourage innovation and critical thinking in children, putting myself in the shoes of the children, and at the same time, not deviating from the purpose of the activities. As a result, I managed to positively affect the childrens lives and future.
