Full Stack Software Engineering Intern May 2021 - Aug 2021
Kopi Date SingaporeI interned as a Full Stack Software Engineer at a start-up company called Kopi Date which is a date matching and curating service in Singapore. I was involved in developing a web application for the use of the company’s administrative staff. I developed several useful functionalities including data filtering systems, paginated data querying, responsive tables and forms that would enable the admin to read, write and modify entries in their database and easily carry out important actions such as matching users, making use of filter options for searching for users and matches, modifying particulars etc. These were done using AngularJS and Firebase as the backend service. I also developed a chat-app for their users called “Kopi-chat” using ReactJS and Firebase Realtime Database. Apart from these, I also made use of Firebase Cloud Functions and email delivery clients like SendGrid and Postmark to send email notifications to users whenever their date sent them a message. I also automated the instantiation/creation of the “kopi-chat” for two individuals as soon as the admin matched them. Apart from these, I used firebase cloud functions to schedule emails to individuals exactly 3 hours before their date in a way that the function call is minimized and is economic for the company. This experience has made me proficient in important JavaScript frameworks like Angular and React on the client-side, and Firebase that is a NoSQL (MongoDB style) database for server-side development.
