Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS) SingaporeDeveloped a deep convolutional neural network model in TensorFlow using line fitting and RANSAC for semantic terrain segmentation from IMU and depth camera input enabling robust locomotion mode prediction for a robotic prosthesis control. Achieved an accuracy of ~97% for 7 terrain classes.
Designed a robust 3D point cloud pre-processing pipeline comprising inclination compensation, ground subtraction, downsampling and noise filtering to prepare sensor data for deep learning model and leveraged depth inpainting to improve point cloud density and classification accuracy on Linux platform and CUDA for parallel computing.
Implemented real-time terrain characterization algorithm through sensor fusion of vision data and joint encoder information on Jetson hardware to extract contextual features using ROS.
