Summary
Shawn Michael Stewart has completed his training to become a licensed Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) at Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre (SATCC). Previously as a probationary air traffic control officer working for CAAS, Shawn is focused on receiving training and achieving quality results from the different stages of training for the 1st rating i.e. Primary ATC Course, Approach Stream simulation training and OJT. As an ATCO, Shawn is determined to put in his best effort in his daily work after successfully achieving his 1st rating.
Before joining CAAS, Shawn worked for the Land Transport Authority (LTA) as a Project Engineer for the Systems Integration and Commissioning of future MRT lines, particularly the Downtown Line and the Thomson-East Coast Line in Singapore. Shawn had the opportunity to look into and appreciate the hardwork and dedication of the many LTA engineers and contractors for the design, construction and safe operation of future MRT lines in Singapore.
Shawn is truly passionate about his work, and is always eager to understand how the many aviation bodies come together to promote and build better and seamless travel for all travellers with safer skies. The challenges of what an ATCO faces are what Shawn believes will keep him on his toes to be alert, active and productive, and yearn to expand his horizon to learn and adapt well for the future.
Shawn has a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering with aeronautical specialisation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). His bachelor thesis on the human factors of an ATCO at the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) has spurred his interest in air traffic management, thereby better appreciating his career. In addition, his internship stint with SATS Risk & Safety Management has generated his strong interest in the airport operations at Changi Airport Airside. His past experiences have allowed him to be familiar with the current and emerging trends of the aviation industry.
