How do you attempt to overcome your lack of knowledge in particular areas?
Reach out to people who have the expertise in that area to learn from those who are in the practice. But it is equally important to do your homework. Read up. Do some researches. There are plenty of resources online.

If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
I would most certainly pick up more skills in programming, such as python, and data analytics, such as Power BI.
