Summary
As a Ratings Analyst at Fitch Ratings, I appraise the creditworthiness and financial performance of Energy and Utilities issuers across South and Southeast Asia. In my current role, I not only honed my analytical skills but also developed an understanding of the industry.
Furthermore, my tenure as a Relationship Manager at Lei Shing Hong Capital and IFS Capital Limited has developed my stakeholder management abilities and my ability to interact effectively with different functions and levels within an organization.
I am particularly drawn to infrastructure finance recognising its pivotal role in regional economic and social development. In pursuit of deepening my expertise in infrastructure financing, I completed the ISCA Infrastructure and Project Finance Qualification (IPFQ). Additionally, I hold the Green and Sustainable Finance Professional (GSFP) and Certified Climate Risk Professional (Cert CRP) certifications, underscoring my dedication to sustainability principles. My goal is to support the sustainable growth of renewable energy infrastructure and contribute to the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
I also enjoy teaching and sharing my expertise with others, as I have done as a swimming instructor for 7 years. In my free time, I enjoy going for a swim or having a glass of wine.

Q&A with Esmond Lee
What are the things that you look out in a potential mentee?
I believe that mentorship is a 2-way process where both parties exchange their experiences and knowledge. This means that an investment of time and energy is required from both parties. Before accepting a mentorship request, I would see if there is an alignment of my experiences and the potential mentees interests.
Please drop me a message either on JobKred or via LinkedIn when you request for my mentorship, I would love to have a preliminary chat before deciding on how best we can take things forward.

If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
My professional journey has been a series of twists and turns, partly because I have been working towards a career in infrastructure project finance/advisory which is a relatively niche area. If I were a college student again, I would do the following:
- trim down on my extra-curricular activities (I had way too many)
- start considering my endgame earlier
- seek out mentorship which could help save some time walking into walls

What do you do to keep your skills fresh or keep yourself updated in your field?
It is indeed important to continue staying abreast of the latest trends and to continue upskilling. I do this by doing the following:
- follow industry thought leaders on LinkedIn
- install news apps on my phone for the constant push notifications
- actively seek out opportunities to acquire new skills/knowledge
