Q&A with Jason Chew
What are your strongest skills that have contributed to your success in this field?
Basic technical skill that is fundamental to the job is certainly necessary to fulfil the task . However it is often the softskills that bring you a little further. In RD engineering work that I am in, it often pays off for not settling with what others had already done, but inquire a little more and often you can make some small improvements here and there.

What has been the most challenging situation you have ever faced at work and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part of work is usually not technical but interpersonal. It takes a lot of maturity to handle some of these issues. One good way is to seek advice from someone experienced. In the heat of a situation, it is best not to respond to conflict if possible until you are cooled down and have a clear mind. Else you will often have to spend more effort in clearing the aftermath.
