Lay Geok has extensive experience in regulatory roles in the financial services sector, of which 15 years were spent with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Lay Geok earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies (Banking) in Nanyang Technological University and is certified in ScrumMaster® and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials. Lay Geok is also a licensed practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming® .

Lay Geok Yeo is the Founder and Director of LG and D. LG and D provides consulting and training services in regulatory compliance to firms in the banking and financial advisory sectors.

Prior to LG and D, Lay Geok spent 15 years of her career with the Monetary Authority of Singapore in supervision of banks and payment system operators, and data governance. She has also worked at KPMG as a Director focused on data strategy and regulatory technology in the financial services industry, and in-house compliance roles.

What is the biggest challenge that you face in this field?

Lay Geok Yeo

The biggest challenge I faced in running a consulting and training business as a solopreneur is to be able to navigate in uncertain times. For example, the pandemic (2020 to 2022) was a long challenge I had to face with surprises businesses faced along the way. The recent global developments in March 2023 (US and Switzerland) were also trying. Interestingly, with the times I faced during the pandemic, I was able to quickly relook at my business strategy and made adjustments to secure my income. With that experience, I have come up with the motto - Navigate the Flow; Create your Certainty - that will help me to continue to be agile with new events.

What did you do to make yourself marketable?

I focus on building up my personal brand through LinkedIn. I do regular LinkedIn posts as part of the branding. The LinkedIn posts are focused on giving knowledge and creating awareness to my training business and my consulting role.
