A computer engineer by training, Mun Choong has been a serial entrepreneur in Asia ever since he co-founded his first tech startup in 1997 where Selfdrvn is the third tech startup he has co-founded. Is there something you wish you'd known starting out in your field? Or is there something you wish you had done differently starting out?
I wished Id developed better self-awareness of my personal strengths and limitations to help me approach my career and my life in a more balanced way. I knew what I was good at at the beginning of my career. Perhaps a better appreciation of my own limitations would have helped me become a better professional and a happier person.

What excites you about the industry you are in?
I feel excited and privileged to have been involved in software development and software business since I was 12 years old. As one famous silicon valley venture capitalist said, Software will eat the world. We have seen software companies like Netflix disrupting the business model of traditional industries, and innovative software technologies like Generative AI, and blockchain enabling many new solutions that were previously unheard of. Software business is relatively scalable and a lot less capital-intensive than some other industries. With software, our imagination and persistence is the only limit to what is possible.
