Sebastian Tey's Skill Profile
Artillery Operator/Admin Support assistant @ SAF
When I was serving NS 21st Battalion Singapore Artillery in the SAF, I demonstrated resilience and good teamwork. During the outfield rotational exercises, each of which lasted for days, I would sometimes take on different and multiple roles in my gun detachment depending on the situations we faced. These included taking the roles of exhausted detachment members and finding additional ways to increase our deployment speed. It was integral towards meeting our tight time targets for deployment exercises outfield.
Bachelor Of Science @ Nanyang Technological University
<p>In NTU, I learnt to create maps through various workflows using various GIS software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Pro as well as Agisoft Metashape. I demonstrated proficiency in ArcGIS and QGIS in my coursework, receiving positive comments about the design choices for some of my chosen maps. When working on our group project on Venices subsidence and sea level rise problem, I demonstrated a readiness to adapt to change; after I realized that the data I sought for use in an economic model was only available to locals, I proactively sought other ways of portraying Venice, finding and georeferencing old maps indicative of Venices changes in appearance and economic strategies over centuries.</p>
Bachelor Of Science @ Nanyang Technological University
In semester 1 of Year 2 of my time in NTU, I picked up computational skills in MATLAB. I demonstrated meticulousness in picking up the syntax of the language and recommended programming habits to observe in writing our scripts and visualizing our data. In our group project which focused on finding an association between sea surface temperature rise and its possible contributing factors, I demonstrated attention to detail in inspecting the figures we would submit, as well as the scripts we shared with one another.
