Summary
As a semiconductor professional, I am working on chips that are a part and parcel of every gadget in todays world.
I have been fortunate enough to have worked on different domains in the semiconductor life cycle right from digital design, digital verification on the pre silicon side and DFT / testing / validation on the post silicon side. This has broadened my perspective on the entire IC design process right from conception to making it a reality.
A proud AMD-er, led by the most inspiring woman leader in the semiconductor industry Dr. Lisa Su.

Q&A with Shruthi Sreeram
Have you considered going into other fields? What other fields do you think you are well-suited for and why?
Yes, it is always good to wonder. The field most close to electronics would be software engineering as hardware and software always go hand in hand. There are many skills in common to both like programming languages. We can leverage this commonality and switch careers if need be.

What excites you about the field that you are in?
Everything. It is literally running the world, if I think about it. We make electronic chips that are part of everyday gadgets in everyones life. Its the life of a gadget as is oxygen to us. I am super pumped every single day to be part of a company that designs these electronic chips that have such an immense impact in todays world.

If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
As a college student, I was very nerdy and never looked beyond the textbooks. But in todays world just having bookish knowledge would not cut it. It is essential to be abreast with the current technologies and the skills required for the same.

What achievements in your career are you most proud of?
I managed to secure a job during the pandemic. I had just graduated from NTU with a masters degree when COVID started spreading all over the world and Singapore Govt imposed a circuit breaker. I applied to all job profiles under the semiconductor umbrella even if I didnt have all the required skills they asked for. All I had in me was hunger to learn and grow in any job I take up. That is what got me 3-4 interview calls at the peak of the pandemic and I finally took up 1 of them.
