What was the most significant event that made you the way you are now?
It would be 3 years back when I was very dry in my career, as in, I questioned the meaning of my work despite its pay check. Thereafter, thankful to Gods leading, I attended a series of discovery workshops to have an indepth assessments of myself and I was introduced to a career coach who walked me through 8 sessions. I found myself in a career development space today thanks to this event !

What achievements in your career are you most proud of?
When I successfully worked with my operations team to erect a 800 + sqm SG 50 banner overlooking the Singapore River at the Singtel Pickering Operations Centre building. It was 400+ m high from the top level 30 !!
Career coaching-wise, i was proud of a probonoclient who took my challenge to get out of his comfort zone to follow up with a company, and thereafter he was offered a job. I have seen similiar case with an undergraduate too. Moral of the story - take small steps but do not stop there !
Experiment, change, adjust and have fun in your career exploration journey ! :)

Is there something you wish you'd known starting out in your field? Or is there something you wish you had done differently starting out?
A lot ! I wished I had started planning my career during my varsity days and not leave it until Final Year ! There was insufficient time for me to gain clarity not to mention decide upon my career path. Optimistically speaking though, I still ended up in a role I am passionate in now. Thus, the old adage is true - your degree is only a door opener to your career, the rest is up to you !
So a word of advice to the undergraduate friends, please make full use of the resources in the CAO and your coach ! :)

Describe a situation where you had an idea and needed to influence people around you to understand, and work together towards achieving the idea.
When our Company did not have a safety officer, I took the initiative to propose to my management to send me for the specialist diploma course. I explained to them from a cost benefit angle and succeeded to secure the training budget. Thereafter, I worked with them to set up our Bizsafe 3 Risk Management system.
