Q&A with Wei Shing Liaw
What are some mistakes that you have made in your career? How did you deal with it and what have you learned from them?
We all make mistakes but the biggest problem is to try and cover the mistakes up. Learn to eat humble pie and own up. The feeling is not great (terrible actually depending on how big the mistake is) but we will live from it, and hopefully be the wiser next time.

How do you attempt to overcome your lack of knowledge in particular areas?
We can never be an expert in every aspect of our careers but what we need to do is to be able to gather and lead a group of experts that we can trust and rely on, to work together as a team to reach the objective.

Have you considered going into other fields? What other fields do you think you are well-suited for and why?
What struck me was that in my 10 years with Accenture, change was the only constant, cos the organisation kept making changes one way or another that impacted my work. Thereafter, the switch in jobs meant that I had to learn new technical skills but my soft skills were being exercised more often.
