Bachelor of Science (Highest Distinction, Hons) (Chemistry) Aug 2015 - Aug 2019

Zhi Yi receives a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honors in Chemistry Biological Chemistry, together with double concentration in Food Science and Medicinal Chemistry. He was nominated and awarded the prestigious SPMS Student of The Year Award 2019.

Zhi Yi was selected to represent NTU for its exchange programme with the University of Edinburgh in 2018, and has twice been invited to join the prestigious Undergraduate Research on CAmpus (URECA) programme that is offered to only the top performing students. He completed his research project with Distinction grade as NTU President Research Scholar for two consecutive years.

Zhi Yi is independent, responsible, self-driven and passionate about his study. He reads widely, proposes ideas spontaneously and is unafraid to explore different directions or take on additional challenges. Above all, Zhi Yi has active involvement in the NTU Chinese Society and NTU Cultural Activities Club (CAC) Harmonica Band while maintaining his good grades.

Aside from studies and research, Zhi Yi has been playing the harmonica for the past six years and was concurrently the Vice Chairperson and Sectional Leader of the NTU CAC Harmonica Band which is made up of over 40 members. He led the preparation of the band’s 2017 annual concert and was actively involved in teaching and guiding new members without any prior experience. He is also dedicated to music, and manage his own YouTube Channel, and has gathered over 2,000 subscriptions with over 40 videos.
