If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
I would have liked to put in a bit more effort in the non-core modules, perhaps one extra work attachment, perhaps an overseas stint (if that was so easily possible back then) and find a mentor or two.

What are your strongest skills that have contributed to your success in this field?
Id rather put it as an approach rather than a skill. I like to ask myself what else can I work on to improve the situation? Id like to believe that with this in mind, I am always seeking to learn or improve something.

What are some mistakes that you have made in your career? How did you deal with it and what have you learned from them?
Not networking enough in the early days and thinking that it meant going out with people whom I am not comfortable with. I have since learned that networking can be done professionally by attending public events, engaging in meaningful conversations, helping others connect the dots and can even be done virtually.

What are your interests and in what way does this career satisfy your interests?
While I could cope academically in school, I realized that academics was not my strength. During the 2 work attachments in uni days, it further helped me realize that technical work was not my cup of tea, and working with people seemed to come more naturally. I felt comfortable dealing with all sorts of people, no doubt with some tough lessons, but by and large something I could manage better. I decided then to try sales work, and never looked back since. Throughout my career, it had mainly been areas which required decent interpersonal skills such as sales, marketing, business development and management. When I called it a day on my business venture, I took some time to try different things, one of which was coaching youths and I found the the experience engaging and fulfilling. That eventually led me to my current role of career counselling for youths.
