Summary
Dominic Chan is currently the Engineering Manager of AAR Engineering Services – Asia, which is a business unit within AAR Corp, a leading aviation company based in USA. He leads a team of engineers to design and certify modifications to aircraft, mainly specializing in cabin interiors modification for commercial airlines. Prior to AAR, Dominic was the Assistant Manager, Engineering Division of SIA Engineering Company where he joined first as an Executive Engineer. There he has been involved in several aircraft repairs and modifications as well as fleet technical management. Dominic has over 15 years of aviation experience and is a Design Signatory for Cabin Safety under CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore).
Dominic graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Production Engineering (MPE), majoring in Aeronautical Engineering, from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Arcadia University, USA.

AAR Engineering Services - Asia Singapore- Manage the Engineering department consisting of design engineers in both mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
- Responsible for the Human Capital Management (HCM) aspects including recruitment and termination, learning and development, as well as performance appraisals.
- Manage aircraft modification projects (mostly commercial airline cabin interiors) to be delivered with high quality and aviation safety standards, within financial budget / resources and within schedule.

Asst Manager Engineering Nov 2005 - Oct 2011
SIA Engineering Company Singapore- Joined as an Executive Engineer under the Structures and Cabin Interior section. Worked with aircraft OEMs like Boeing and Airbus to develop repair and modification schemes for aircraft belonging to various airlines that are in the MRO (hangar) facility.
- Seconded to JV company Jamco Aero Design and Engineering (JADE) to develop cabin interior design engineering skills. Spent months in USA under parent company, Jamco America, for project coordination for Singapore Airlines.
- After secondment, returned to SIAEC and promoted to Assistant Manager to assist in the management of section. Involved in several major repairs, including being part of the Qantas A380 engine failure investigation committee.
- Program coordinator for SIA Community Service Club - assist in organizing charitable events as part of companys CSR.

When I was working at SIA Engineering Company (Nov 2005 - Oct 2011), I demonstrated the Aircraft Design skill when I was part of team that designed aircraft interiors.. To tackle this challenge, I proactively learnt from my colleagues in USA. As a result, I managed to achieve recognition as one of the certification specialists.

What excites you about the field that you are in?
The engineering field in the aviation industry is very wide and dynamic. There are many things to learn and even after 15 years in the field, there is still much more that I do not know.
