How do you attempt to overcome your lack of knowledge in particular areas?
I think as an engineer, you have the desire to master and understand everything that you see. Many a times, that is not possible. In fact, one of the attributes of being a chartered engineer is to admit your shortcomings and understand how to overcome the knowledge gap. Personally, I do this by seeking help locally, depending on whether it is a geotechnical, traffic, structural, commercial or BIM. Next, i will go to the various Practice sites (Subject experts) within the company globally. Lastly, I will engage my network/connections for suggestions.

How do you effectively manage your work?
I personally like outlook calendar. All the meetings / datelines are keyed in. Where there are blank space, i will allocate it to complete certain tasks. That way, you will not miss key meetings and deliverables.

Is there something you wish you'd known starting out in your field? Or is there something you wish you had done differently starting out?
Yes. As an undergraduate, I ignored all the support services that NTU had to offer. From mental well-being, communication coach, resume writing workshops to career guidance. If you are still studying in NTU, make full use of the resources available there, everything cost $$ in the working world.
