Jeffrey Chan (Dr)'s Skill Profile
Doctor in Education @ Nanyang Technological University
When I was working at Nanyang Technological University (Jan 2014 - Dec 2021), I demonstrated my Clinical Supervision skill when I was in charge of setting up clinical supervision for career practitioners for my organisation. To resolve the issue, I proactively identify and train potential supervisors. As a result, I managed to strengthen the pool of clinical supervisors for the fraternity of career practitioners over the years.

If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
My current thinking is to embrace designing your life forward, so if I were a college student again, I may not change much in my approach to future planning. I will continue to prototype ideas, try out new experiences and new learning, remain curious and be open to change, and adapt myself to the new environment where there is opportunity that presents itself.

What do you like most about your work?
My work is somewhat similar to RD. The research bit allows me to remain cutting edge in my domain expertise knowledge and to translate research knowledge into knowledge for knowing (new insights and perspectives) and knowledge for doing (new practices and best practices). The development bit concerns mainly policy formulation and implementation to benefit the various stakeholders in education and career counselling.
