If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
Find your ikigai.
The intersection point between what you like, what is available in the job market, and what is the world willing to pay for.
If you dont know what you like, the only way to find out is to explore. Best way to explore is from internship.
What is available in job market can be found from job recruitment sites. I like to use LinkedIn Jobs.
What the world is willing to pay. Lots of available information on sites like Glassdoors.

What do you do to keep up with the current issues and trends in your field?
Be aware of the current affairs.
Knowledge is power, action creates change.
Simply observing what is happening around you (current affairs, global news, industry changes) is 50% of the battle won. The next half would be what course of actions can you take to leverage on this information.
Building a conducive environment around your life style is key. E.g. The apps you have on your phones front page, the social media accounts you follow, and the YouTube channels you subscribe to. Engulf yourself in an environment which you want to be aware of.

Is there something you wish you'd known starting out in your field? Or is there something you wish you had done differently starting out?
As an engineering student, narrowly minded at pursuing a good GPA, I lost sight of the real end goal, which is the career.
Good GPA are not linearly correlated with career success. There are more dimensions to consider in selecting a career, which includes your personal values and what you desire in life.
The only way to know is to explore and the best place to make mistakes are in internships.
I would have love to take on more internships in different industries and sectors, inclusive and exclusive of engineering, to broaden my understanding of the working world.
