Summary
I am age 30, male, graduated from NTU in 2016 and has 4 years of experience in a local SME.
As a younger mentor, I hope to offer my mentees a fresh perspective of what to expect in joining the work force. I can help to navigate with you through your transition, and how Covid might impact you in your job search.
Job search might feel a little scary. For me, I did not start off in an industry relevant to my studied course. It is exciting to work with you through your options :)
I am currently in a life - coaching program. Mentoring with me will not only involve me sharing my experience, but also to enable you to explore your potential in the career goals you wish to pursue.

Q&A with Liew Kian Boon
What do you like most about your work?
I love working in an environment where the hierarchy is flat. I could arrange time to consult my colleagues about problems and we can solve them together. No doubt it can be challenging as we are usually in different location / branch, but it is the same as many industry where team members find it hard to meet due to working from home arrangements.

What do you do to keep your skills fresh or keep yourself updated in your field?
It is very important to keep learning even after university. Knowing how to use our skills-future credit can also help to subsidise some of the courses you may take. I am picking up Life coaching which is. a very helpful course to learn how to help others through coaching and unlocking their potential.

How was my experience in a SME?
It was a good positive learning experience working in a Small enterprise where colleagues are supportive and I felt we really worked as a team. Resources are scarce and we were expected to be very hands-on and work from scratch. For example, I learnt to develop a consultative working style to initiate penning down SOPs.
