What is the biggest challenge that you face in this field?
The biggest challenge would definitely be (i) how to ensure that there is a steady pool of good jobs for Singaporeans, and (ii) how to ensure that they are well-equipped with the right skills and mindsets to take on and thrive in these roles.

If you were a college student again, what would you do differently to prepare you for your field?
In retrospect, I would have likely been more proactive in seeking out advice from my peers on how I could increase my employability and pick up relevant skills such as CV writing, dealing with interviews, and joining case competitions. Hence, I hope that serving as a mentor would allow me to contribute and directly aid other NTU students who also face the same issues as I did back then.

What achievements in your career are you most proud of?
As a public servant, it is important for us to stay grounded and not be too focused on short-term results. That said, I was proud to be able to play a small but key role in SkillsFuture Singapores efforts to assist Singaporeans to protect their livelihood during the COVID-19 pandemic through upskilling efforts such as the SGUnited Skills and Enhanced Training Support Package.

Describe a project or idea (not necessarily your own) that was implemented primarily because of your efforts.
I was heavily involved in the implementation of the Enhanced Training Support Package (ETSP) administered under SkillsFuture Singapore to help affected companies to retain core manpower competencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. I worked closely with key employers such as SATS and SIA to support them in continuing with upskilling efforts despite the challenging economic conditions.
