When I was younger, I was someone who did not have much self awareness and a mind of my own.
I was afraid of voicing out my opinions because I lack confidence and fear what others have to say.
After joining the financial planning profession, it gave me confidence because I was able to do things that I would not have imagined. Putting myself in uncomfortable situations like learning how to sell and build a brand changed a big part of my life.
Fast forward to today, Im excited to embrace the topics of sales, marketing personal branding. Im on a mission to be a force of good and empower 1,000,000 lives by promoting financial literacy through media technology.

What did you do to make yourself marketable?
I live by this mantra: Different is better than better. Focus on becoming different first, and become better at what youre different at later.

What achievements in your career are you most proud of?
Being featured in national press (Straits times and Moneyfm89.3) as an insurance agent. This could not have happened if i did not take that bold step to become a personal finance tiktoker back in 2020. Making content has helped me to build a personal brand effectively and has gained attention from others ever since.

What sacrifices have you had to make to succeed in this field, and do you feel the sacrifices were worth it?
I have to give up my weekday nights and weekends at the beginning. Theres also no official work hours per say when I first started out. I will seize every single opportunity when there is and do my best to acquire as many clients as possible. Yes for sure, they were 100% worth it. Without these lessons, i would not have been so resilient and treasure my successes now.

What are your interests and in what way does this career satisfy your interests?
Ive many interests and I believe in living life on my own terms. Im driven by fun, freedom meaning in what i do. I play sports in general (from basketball to muay thai and even wakeboarding now). Being in the financial services career has given me lots of autonomy and control over my time and progression. I was able to pursue my interests and passion because of that.

What kind of education or training did you find most useful in your field?
Self education! Weve been trained in formal education for so long that we overlooked the importance of self education. Formal education can make you a living but self education can make you a fortune.
